Primary Tuition – Key Stage 1 And Key Stage 2
The primary years give children the foundations they will use throughout the rest of their education.
When a child finds part of English or Maths difficult, a little extra support at the right time can make a significant difference. Equally, some children understand the work but lack confidence in their own ability.
Progress Education Centre provides Primary tuition for children at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 from our centres in Darwen and Haslingden.
Our aim is to help children develop their skills, improve their confidence and enjoy learning.
Tuition Built Around Your Child
Children do not all learn in exactly the same way or at exactly the same pace.
Before tuition begins, we can carry out a free initial assessment to help identify your child’s learning needs and understand where additional support would be most useful.
We can then develop an individual learning plan with short-term targets.
Achievement is monitored and assessed with learning linked to the National Curriculum, allowing us to adapt tuition as your child progresses.
Some children come to Progress because they are finding a particular area difficult. Others need help filling gaps in their knowledge, building confidence or preparing for an important assessment.
Whatever the reason, the starting point is the individual child.
Primary English And Maths Tuition
Our Primary tuition can provide additional support in English and Maths.
In English, this can include developing reading and comprehension, improving spelling, punctuation and grammar and becoming more confident when writing.
In Maths, we can reinforce the fundamental skills children need while helping them understand areas they are finding more challenging.
Rather than simply giving children more schoolwork to complete, our tutors take the time to explain ideas and help children understand how to work things out for themselves.
That matters because we do not just want children to get the right answer while they are sitting with us. We want them to become increasingly confident and independent when they return to the classroom.

SATs And 11+ Preparation
Progress Education Centre also provides tuition for children preparing for SATs and 11+ examinations.
Exam preparation can help children become familiar with the type of work they are likely to encounter while strengthening the underlying knowledge and skills they need.
We also work on confidence, study skills and approaching questions carefully.
The objective is not to add unnecessary pressure. It is to help children feel prepared and capable when the time comes.
Qualified Tutors And Small Groups
Our tuition is delivered by qualified, experienced tutors in small groups.
This means children can study alongside other pupils while still receiving individual attention and working at their own pace and level.
Many of our tutors also work in local schools and have a strong knowledge of the curriculum.
We want Progress Education Centre to be somewhere children feel comfortable learning and asking questions.
Parents and carers are an important part of that process too. We maintain open and honest communication and tutors are available to provide regular feedback about progress.
